JARL "Wound Profile" cd

The album Wound Profile by Erik Jarl, the genius of Swedish electronics, previously released in a cassette, has now, after some processing of the record, come out as a CD in a very elegant digipack. The album consists of two record sessions: one of them (6 tracks) was recorded by Erik in 1999, while the other (one track) was recorded 18 months later. Those closely following the music of the Scandinavian master may recognise the early sound of Erik’s compositions in Wound Profile album that at certain points even remind the first IRM records. Clear-cut, abnormal, psychedelic rhythmics, its distorted, massive repetitions, analogous loops of synthetic sound generate the emotions of anxiety, morbidity and degeneration. Unlike Erik’s later music marked for its abstract structure and closer to drone style, the album Wound Profile can be characterised by emotional straightforwardness and brutality
