SELF-SHADOWING PREY "Illusion To Illusion" tape

Self-Shadowing Prey is the solo project of A. Brasfield hailing from Portland, OR. He’s also one half of the duo Telluris who recently did a mini-tour with Regosphere and Xiphoid Dementia, as well as Lifestyle Pornography with Luis from Lavas Magmas. He has been running the Suram Fortress tape label as well, which began this past summer. With this new release we get three tracks of pure Death-Industrial dread with a touch of a cold soundtrackesque synth sound. Bass heavy, shifting MS20 drones worm their way out of the darkness and pave the way for creeping arpeggiated chord progressions and slimy high end sound design. Slowly crude tape cut-ups of large pieces of metal being thrown around the room make themselves known. The natural reverb of the junk blends perfectly with the cold and calculating synths. These tracks are a perfect representation of the darker sides of Portland well hidden from the hype and illusions surrounding the city currently. This sounds like 82nd Ave put to tape, dark, mysterious, wet and dangerous. Chrome high bias tapes with b/w labels. Glossy laser printed b/w cover. Limited to 50 hand-numbered copies.
